How is the battery energy storage tape produced?

The production of battery energy storage adhesive tape generally includes the following steps:

Raw material preparation

Selection of substrate: According to the performance requirements of the adhesive tape, select suitable substrates, such as polyester film (PET), polypropylene film (PP), polyimide film (PI) and so on. These substrates should have good mechanical strength, high temperature resistance and insulation. For example, polyimide film is often used as the base material for battery energy storage tape working in high temperature environment to ensure stable performance at high temperature.

Adhesive preparation: Common adhesives include acrylate adhesive, rubber adhesive and hot melt adhesive. According to the specific use and performance requirements of the adhesive tape, the formula of the adhesive is accurately prepared. For example, in order to make the adhesive tape have good electrolyte resistance, a proper amount of special additives can be added to the acrylate adhesive.

Other auxiliary materials: It may be necessary to prepare auxiliary materials such as release paper and release film to protect the adhesive surface and prevent the adhesive from being contaminated or sticking in advance during storage and use.

Substrate treatment

Surface cleaning: use physical or chemical methods to remove dust, oil stains and other impurities on the surface of the substrate to ensure that the surface of the substrate is clean and tidy, so as to improve the adhesion between the adhesive and the substrate. For example, the surface of the substrate can be cleaned by ultrasonic cleaning or chemical solvent cleaning.

Corona treatment: By means of corona discharge, the surface of the base material will produce microscopic rough structure, increase the surface energy and improve the bonding effect of the adhesive. For example, PP, PET and PI film substrates usually need corona treatment to get a rough and smooth film substrate.

Coating release agent or digital ink: coating release agent on the non-gummed surface of the base material so that the adhesive tape can be peeled off from the release material smoothly when in use; Or coated with digital ink to identify the specifications, models and other information of the tape.

rubber coating

Glue coating: the prepared adhesive is evenly coated on the surface of the treated substrate by a coating machine. There are many coating methods, such as scraper coating, roller coating, spray coating, etc., which can be selected according to the characteristics of adhesive and the requirements of production process. For example, for adhesives with low viscosity, roller coating can be used to ensure the uniformity of coating.

Drying and curing: the coated adhesive tape passes through a high-temperature drying tunnel, so that the solvent in the adhesive volatilizes, and the adhesive undergoes curing reaction to form a sticky adhesive layer. The drying temperature and time are adjusted according to the type and formula of adhesive. Generally, the temperature is between 80℃ and 150℃, and the time ranges from several minutes to several minutes.

Compound and winding

Compounding: If it is necessary to produce multi-layer battery energy storage adhesive tape, such as double-sided adhesive tape or adhesive tape with reinforced layer, it is necessary to carry out compounding process after gluing. Different material layers are compounded together by hot pressing or other means to form a complete adhesive tape structure.

Winding: the dried and compounded adhesive tape is wound by winding equipment to form a semi-finished mother roll. When winding, the tension should be well controlled to avoid folding or stretching deformation of the tape during winding.

Cutting and slitting

Rewinding: Rewinding the semi-finished mother roll for subsequent cutting and slitting operations. In the rewinding process, the quality of the tape can be preliminarily checked and the defective parts can be eliminated.

Slitting or slitting: using a slitter or slitting machine to cut the rewound mother roll according to the required width and length to obtain the finished adhesive tape. The accuracy of cutting and slitting is very important for the quality and performance of adhesive tape, and it is necessary to strictly control the parameters and operation technology of cutting equipment.

Inspection and packaging

Quality inspection: Conduct comprehensive quality inspection on the produced battery energy storage tape, including appearance inspection, dimension measurement, viscosity test, temperature resistance test, electrolyte resistance test, etc. Through inspection, ensure that all performance indexes of the adhesive tape meet the product standards and customer requirements.

Packaging and warehousing: The qualified adhesive tapes are packaged according to a certain quantity and specifications, usually using packaging materials such as plastic films and cartons to prevent the adhesive tapes from being damaged or polluted during transportation and storage. The packaged adhesive tape can be put into storage for delivery.
