Characteristics of solar high temperature adhesive tape in new energy field

Solar high-temperature adhesive tape is the key consumables for photovoltaic module manufacturing and power station operation and maintenance. Its core features focus on five dimensions: high temperature resistance, weather resistance, electrical insulation, low residual adhesive and multi-process adaptation. It can cover the whole scene of lamination, cell processing, module packaging and frame sealing, taking into account production stability and long-term outdoor reliability.

I. Core performance characteristics

1. Ultra-wide temperature range tolerance, adapting to the whole process chain

Long-term high temperature resistance: conventional products can withstand 150-180℃ for a long time, and high-end silica gel can withstand 200-260℃, which is completely compatible with high-temperature processes such as photovoltaic lamination (140-160℃), sintering (500-800℃) and curing.

Short-term temperature resistance peak: it can withstand short-term impact of 180-200℃ for 30 minutes, meeting the requirements of rapid heat treatment.

Low temperature compatibility: some models support low temperature of-40℃ to-70℃, which is suitable for outdoor extreme environment.

2. Strong weather resistance and anti-aging, ensuring a 25-year life.

Anti-UV: Add anti-UV coating or use weather-resistant substrate, and it will not turn yellow, crack or degum after long-term outdoor exposure.

Humid heat aging resistance: it is stable for a long time in high humidity environment (85℃/85% RH), and the adhesive layer does not hydrolyze and soften.

Chemical corrosion resistance: resistant to photovoltaic packaging materials (EVA, POE, backplane) and electrolyte, without swelling and degradation.

3. Electrical insulation and safety characteristics

High breakdown voltage: conventional dielectric strength ≥20kV/mm, and some models can reach 40kV/mm, which meets the electrical safety requirements of photovoltaic modules.

Insulation stability: the insulation performance will not be attenuated in high temperature and high humidity environment, so as to avoid the risk of electric leakage and thermal runaway inside the module.

Flame-retardant grade: it mostly meets UL94 V-0 grade, does not spread in case of fire, and adapts to new energy safety standards.

4. Low residual glue and easy peeling, suitable for precision technology.

Clean peeling: after high temperature/aging, peeling has no residual glue and marks, and does not pollute the surface of battery, glass and backplane.

Excellent wettability: it adheres closely to glass, aluminum frame, stainless steel, plastic and other substrates, filling tiny gaps.

Rework: Temporary fixed tape can be easily removed without damaging the surface of components and reducing the scrap rate.

5. Mechanical strength and dimensional stability

High substrate strength: PET/PTFE substrate has strong tensile strength, tensile resistance and tear resistance, and is suitable for automatic mounting.

Good dimensional stability: no shrinkage and deformation at high temperature, avoiding warping and sealing failure when packaging components.

Wear resistance and puncture resistance: it is not easy to be damaged in the scene of edge reinforcement and handling protection, and the corners of the components are protected.

Second, mainstream types and adaptation scenarios

form

Key advantages of typical temperature resistance of core substrate of adhesive tape type

PET high-temperature double-sided adhesive tape polyester film bus bar fixing at 150-180℃, battery cell positioning, temporary fixing of component lamination, high adhesion, electrical insulation and no residual glue.

Perforated PTFE high-temperature adhesive tape PTFE 200-260℃ lamination process demoulding, EVA exhaust, battery edge shielding, air permeability and bubble prevention, low friction demoulding and corrosion resistance.

Silicone-based high-temperature adhesive tape: Silica gel/silica gel composite 180-200℃ double-glass assembly seal, waterproof frame, strong weather resistance for long-term outdoor fixation, lasting adhesive force and adapting to curved surfaces.

Teflon high temperature shielding tape PTFE cloth base 260℃+battery sintering, spraying shielding, high temperature process protection, high temperature resistance, anti-adhesion, chemical inertia.

Third, the exclusive requirements of new energy industry

Dust-free adaptation: photovoltaic manufacturing requires high cleanliness, and tape production needs to be made in a dust-free workshop to avoid dust pollution of battery cells.

Halogen-free: some high-end products adopt halogen-free formula to meet the environmental protection directive and reduce the aging risk of components.

Customized specifications: support 0.05–0.2 mm thickness and arbitrary width customization, and adapt to different parts such as bus bars, frames and battery chips.

Data traceability: high-end models can be matched with batch traceability to meet the requirements of photovoltaic module life cycle management.

Four, selection and use matters needing attention

According to the process, the types are: perforated PTFE for laminated exhaust, double-sided PET for bus bar fixing, and silicone for outdoor sealing.

Confirm the temperature resistance grade: select the product according to the highest temperature of the process+safety margin (for example, select the product that can withstand 180℃ when laminating at 150℃).

Test stripping performance: After high-temperature aging, do residual rubber test to avoid component surface pollution affecting power generation efficiency.

Environmental adaptation: UV-resistant and damp-heat resistant models are preferred for outdoor scenes, and salt spray resistance is paid extra attention to in coastal areas.
